The Carol-caster

My dear wife Carol was kind enough to spend a very long time painting the body of a Mexican Fender Telecaster in her classic style. It was initially fitted with DiMarzio Area T noise-canceling pickups, as shown in the picture, (but I later changed them to EMG tele pickups), custom Warmoth padouk/ebony neck with medium jumbo stainless steel frets, Steinberger tuners, and custom brass hardware by Armadillo Machine Works. It sounds slightly darker and more full than a classic telecaster, with somewhat less bite and twang, but still very much in that style of sound. It was put together and finished by my friend Tom Shepard. The photo doesn't do justice to the great depth and complexity of Carol's artwork, and the more you look, the more phantastic things you see. The three machine holes are filled with real tortoise shell from a shell we found on the ground on Hurricane Ranch. The Warmoth neck is truly amazing.
